Yvan Muller appointed to FIA drivers’ commission
Three-time WTCC champion Yvan Muller has been appointed to the new FIA drivers’ commission. The 43-year-old will sit on the Sports Car, GT & Touring Car disciplines’ body along with Emanuele Pirro and Adrian Fernandez
The drivers’ commission is a new initiative which was announced by the FIA last June. The president of the commission has already been confirmed as Emerson Fittipaldi, and today nine-time World Rally Championship drivers’ champion and potential WTCC driver Sébastien Loeb was confirmed as the Vice-President.
The other disciplines represented on the drivers’ commission include single seater racing, rally and cross country rally and ‘other’, with three representatives in each category.
The purpose of the commission is to represent the rights and interests of the drivers within the FIA as well as to make recommendations.
The drivers’ commission is part of the accord which has seen the FIA recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The FIA drivers’ commission will maintain close contact with the IOC Athletes’ Commission as well as those of other international federations.
