Unsure STCC future for Johan Stureson

2012 Volkswagen STCC driver Johan Stureson might not be on the grid for the 2013 season.
“There is not much happening. I have not got anything good coming,” said Stureson to nsk.se.

Stureson drove a Volkswagen Scirocco with his own team IPS Motorsport as a satellite team for Volkswagen Team Biogas. With the new TTA regulations for 2013, Stureson confirms he is not going to continue the cooperation with Volkswagen.
“He (Tommy Kristoffersson, VW team owner) is in difficulties to get Volkswagen to continue in STCC. He is trying to get some dealers along, but it looks difficult for us to be a part of that cooperation,” said Stureson.

Despite Stureson’s options looking grim for the 2013 season, he is confident that the “new” STCC is going to be strong after the merger with TTA.
“It is going to be a good field and a good calendar with one race at each track. They have got things together there. But things are not easy with two merging championships, you can’t just go back one year,” said Stureson.

The 39-year-old is still working on getting a deal together for the 2013 season.
“We need to make a decision in February, try to get a cooperation. But we are not going to have our own cooperation with a importer. We might try to cooperate with another team,” said Stureson.
