Chevrolet Solaris Motorsport to field all-new Camaro

Solaris Motorsport will introduce a new model in the Superstars Series. The Chevrolet Camaro will be on track right from the 2013 season premiere in April.

After a win at Mugello, Francesco Sini’s maiden victory in the series with the ageing Lumina, the same driver will be behind the wheel of the next Solaris Motorsport challenger.
“Our goal is to score some serious outright success,” said Sini. “We want to persuade Chevrolet to commit themselves to a manufacturer-supported Superstars program. The final assembly of the car will be completed in March before going on track for testing, so we will be ready for Monza.”

Superstars World Managing Director Vincenzo Lamaro added:
“We decided to open SUPERSTARS to the best American muscle cars in addition to the current saloon racers because they definitely fit with the championship’s philosophy and will provide lots of excitement on-track. We are honoured by the commitment of Chevrolet Solaris Motorsport as they will be the first to line-up for this brand-new challenge in the championship.”

Solaris Motorsport are expected to field at least a Lumina as well, with the young Austrian Florian Renauer expected to be among the favourites for the seat. The Austrian already had a taste of the car at Adria.

The team is aiming to field another Camaro later this year or in 2014.
