Jason Plato dominates Rockingham qualifying
Jason Plato took a dominant pole at Rockingham, thus topping all sessions so far this weekend. The MG KX Momentum Racing driver was the only man to break the 1:23 barrier, and was able to do so in the opening stages of the session. The Brit sat in his MG6 for the remainder of the session, leaving Gordon Shedden in second some six tenths behind.
The second row was conquered by Andy Jordan and Mat Jackson, who improved late in the session and climbed the field up to fourth. A small mistake prevented Andy Neate from going higher than fifth, ahead of Matt Neal who had to overcome his hand pain due to an motorcycling accident.
Frank Wrathall put his Toyota Avensis in seventh ahead of Rob Collard, while Jeff Smith confirmed Honda’s strong form by making it into the top ten with a good ninth. Adam Morgan rounded out the top ten just ahead of Tom Onslow-Cole.
The first of tomorrow’s three races is scheduled for 11.30 BST.
