GRM signs James Hinchcliffe for Gold Coast 600
Garry Rogers Motorsport has signed Canadian IndyCar driver James Hinchcliffe for the Armor All Gold Coast 600 race.
“For me, it’s a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to get behind one of those cars. I’ve watched the racing for years on TV and they’re just so bad ass,” said Hinchcliffe to speedtv.com.
Hinchcliffe takes part in the IndyCar Series this year, currently placed seventh, and has previously raced in the Indy Lights as well as A1GP.
It has not yet been announced which of the regular GRM drivers the Canadian will drive alongside, either Alexandre Prémat or Michael Caruso. The expectations are high on Hinchcliffe as the two previous guest drivers at GRM has scored a podium in the Gold Coast Race.
“You don’t want to be the guy that breaks the streak, right? This team has had a phenomenal run of success at this race with international drivers coming in and you don’t want to be the guy who doesn’t hold up his end of the bargain,” said Hinchcliffe.
