Johan Kristoffersson wins but could be penalised
Johan Kristoffersson won the second STCC race at Jyllandsringen and extended his championship lead over Rickard Rydell to 18 points. But there is an uncertainty over Kristoffersson’s victory as Chevrolet driver Michel Nykjaer has filed a protest on the start of the race.
“He didn’t keep his position in the start and I am sure that he will get a penalty,” said Nykjaer who has been penalized twice in the STCC for not keeping his position in the start.
The stewards have announced that they are going to investigate the start and the results remain provisional.
Volkswagen claimed a double victory with Patrik Olsson in second position. Chevrolet drivers Nykjaer and Rydell claimed positions three and four, with Rydell having to fight his way up from the bottom of the field after being hit by Santosh Berggren, who was punished for the incident.
Honda driver Tomas Engström’s weekend turned from bad to worse. The retirement of race one was followed by another retirement in race two, this time in spectacular style as he rolled his Honda Civic after contact with Johan Stureson who also retired from the incident.
Jordi Gené finished fifth ahead of Niclas Olsson and Joakim Ahlberg. André Andersson and Santosh Berggren were the final drivers to finish the race while Robin Appelqvist pulled off the track with two laps to go.
