Gordon Shedden excluded from race three due to boost
Gordon Shedden has been excluded from race three as his Honda Civic exceeded its boost limit in the race. Shedden had finished in third place and had taken the Championship lead, but now drops to second behind Matt Neal.
As part of the Championship’s equalistation measures, all teams are given a specific level of atmospheric boost which they are not permitted to exceed on their turbocharged two-litre engines.
A post race inspection discovered that the car had exceeded its boost limit during the third and final race of the day, which promotes Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Jason Plato to the final spot on the podium.
Before the exclusion, Shedden was leading the drivers’ title on 262 points with an eight point lead over team-mate Matt Neal, but now drops to third with Neal on 255, Shedden on 247 and Jason Plato now just two points behind on 245.
