Christian Klien to make Superstars debut

Former F1 driver Christian Klien will make his debut in the International Superstars Series at the wheel of a Maserati Quattroporte at Hungaroring. The Austrian is the fourth driver from Formula 1 to join the series with Maserati, after Mika Salo, Christian Fittipaldi and Johnny Herbert.

Klien has a strong record in single seaters and has shared a Red Bull cockpit with current Caal Racing driver Vitantonio Liuzzi.

The Austian, who also came third at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2008 in a Peugeot 908 with Ricardo Zonta and Franck Montagny, will also take part in two events of the Australian V8 Supercars, including the Bathurst 1000, partnering Russell Ingall in his Holden Commodore.

“I couldn’t have refused such an interesting opportunity.” said Klien. “It will be fantastic to drive a 500 bhp car battling against my former team-mate Liuzzi. This event fits in perfectly with my tight calendar, so I’m really happy that this opportunity came to race at the Hungaroring.”

The race of Hungary will take place this weekend and will also feature local hero Norbert Michelisz at the wheel of a BMW M3.
