Pics and video: Wind tunnel testing for TTA cars
The four TTA teams Brovallen Design, Flash Engineering, BMW Dealer Team WestCoast Racing and Volvo Polestar Racing completed three days of wind tunnel testing at Volvo in Gothenburg.
“The purpose with the test was to analyze and adjust the aerodynamic values of the cars in order to get them equal and to make sure that the cooling works properly,” said Tim Walker, Aerodynamic Expert at Volvo Cars.
All four cars, the BMW, Citroën, Saab and Volvo, hit the tunnel in order to measure and adjust the cooling efficiency but most of all to get even aerodynamical values.
“We are mainly looking at air resistance, meaning how fast the cars are on the straight, and how much lift or downforce the cars are producing. We have got enough data to secure the cooling and most of all that the cars are aerodynamically equal. We are pleased with the test, no doubt,” said Walker.
“The tests have been really productive and we are glad to have been able to use Volvo’s wind tunnel. We have been able to secure equal aerodynamic values and that cooling, wings, diffuser and splitter works as they are supposed to,” said Greger Landén, Technical Director at TTA.
The TTA – Racing Elite League heads to Karlskoga and Anderstorp this week from wednesday to friday for the first official test sessions.
