Changed format for Munich DTM event

The Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters has changed the format and the circuit layout for the event at the Munich Olympic stadium. The new layout features a 614 meter lap with two tracks having a synchronized mirrored layout. Safety has been improved with better run off areas as well as cars not being able to collide from the two different tracks.

A first time trial will be held on Saturday in order to get pairs of drivers from the same manufacturer in teams. No pit stops with tyre changes will be allowed in these first heats.

Sunday’s event is going to feature a head-to-head shootout duel like last year. The driver holding the DTM championship lead plus the three best-placed drivers of every manufacturer are the top-seed drivers and automatically advance to round two while the other 12 drivers will have to contest the first round, with only the six winners advancing to round two. From the quarter finals, the drivers will have to come in for mandatory pit stops.

The DTM Munich event is going to be held on the 14-15th of June and the final results will not award championship points.
