Chevrolet Cruze voted as best WTCC car

The Chevrolet Cruze 1.6T was voted by readers of TouringCarTimes as the best car in last year’s FIA World Touring Car Championship.

Chevrolet won 21 out of 24 races on its way to winning the second consecutive manufacturers’ and drivers’ championships for Yvan Muller.

Chevrolet drivers Yvan Muller, Rob Huff and Alain Menu also completed a clean sweep of pole positions, taking four apiece in the season.

The Cruze clearly dominated the season, and won our readers vote for the second year running, but only just…

The BMW 320 TC, based on the BMW 320si E90 with a new 1.6 litre turbo engine was just 0.7% of the vote behind, taking two wins in the season with Franz Engstler and Tom Coronel.

Completing the top three was the new to the championship Volvo C30 with 19.7% of the vote, which was fancied as being a potential Chevrolet beater after a year of rapid development, but sadly Volvo have decided to leave the championship this year.
