W&D Racing to join Superstars with two BMW M3s

San Marino team W&D Racing will join the 2012 Superstars International Series with two BMW M3s, with one of the cars driven by 2010 Campionato Italiano Turismo Endurance Champion Paolo Meloni.

The team was formed in 1987 by former endurance racer Walter Meloni, and will celebrate its 25th year in competition as it joins Italy’s thriving touring car series.

Meloni’s son Paolo, already an endurance champion in Italy, is the first driver confirmed for the team’s two car squad.

“We really look forward to our new SUPERSTARS project and while we are aware that this championship is an high-level one,” said Meloni Jr.

“Our goal is to keep the pace with the manufacturer-supported squads and all our competitors in general. Nonetheless, we are going to do our best to be competitive from the very beginning an battle at the top end of the charts.”
