Tony Hughes confirms 2012 return with Speedworks
Tony Hughes will return to the British Touring Car Championship with Speedworks Motorsport in one of the team’s two Toyota Avenises, as the team expands to two cars for 2012.
Already confirmed by Team Principal Christian Dick at the Autosport International Show two weeks ago, the team will field Ginetta GT Supercup champion Adam Morgan this season in addition to Hughes, who made his BTCC debut last season.
“Adam has a great talent, and is obviously very quick. I’m going to really enjoy racing alongside him and I think we can push the team forward much quicker with twice as much data on offer,” said Hughes.
“Being on the same grid as the likes of Matt Neal and Jason Plato hasn’t lost any of its appeal despite us having a ‘tough’ opening season…quite the opposite, in fact, we’re hoping to come back much stronger and push on up the grid.”
“We have one or two great additions and upgrades to include during 2012,” he added, “I’m hopeful of getting plenty of time in the car on the run-up to the season opener at Brands Hatch (Kent), which will mean we can hit the ground running.”
