Several cars from the British Touring Car Championship are on display this weekend at the UK’s top motorsport show at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham, with cars from STR, AmD Tuning, Honda Racing Team & Arena Motorsport.

Pictured above is Tom Boardman’s 2011 challenger in presentational livery at the Scorpion Exhausts stand. The Special Tuning Racing team is focusing on its plans to compete in both the British and World Touring Car Championships this season, with negotations for drivers for the World programme going well ahead of the first round at Monza in March.

Thorney Motorsport are also present with their Next Generation Touring Car specification Vauxhall Insignia, which is the only NGTC car on display at this year’s show. Team Principal John Thorne appeared at the season finale last year, running a few installation laps on race day in the morning and during the green flag laps, and is ready to run two cars in this year’s BTCC.

Team Dynamics are displaying their two time manufacturers championship winning Honda Civic car at the show, with the team switching to an NGTC version of the new Honda Civic for this season. One of the team’s two cars is bound for Sweden to be raced by Tomas Engström, whilst the other is still for sale.

AmD Tuning will return with their Volkswagen Golf and their fourth driver in two years, with Ollie Jackson taking over from Martin Byford this season. The car is the same Super 2000 specification Volkswagen Golf originally from the Baltic Touring Car Championship, fitted with an NGTC-specification Lehmann built 2.0 litre turbo, which is a shared development with STR and Rob Austin Racing.

Also on display is Arena Motorsport’s 2011 BTCC challenging Global Ford Focus, which won two races at the hands of Tom Chilton last season. The car is on display at engine builder Mountune’s stand, with the team moving on to the World Touring Car Championship this season.
