Stéveny and de Radiguès celebrate Belgian title
Phillipe Stevény and Didier de Radigues won the 2011 Belgian Touring Car Series after securing second in the final race of the season at Spa-Francorchamps to break Delahaye Racing’s Fred Bouvy’s three-year run on the title.
The Belgian and Monegasque driver pairing secured their first title despite finishing behind the No.2 Delahaye Racing Renault Mégane of Edouard Mondron and Stéphane Lémeret
Stéveny and de Radiguès win the series with 189 points, with Christian Kelders, abandoned by Frédéric Bouvy with two races to go finishing as runner-up in the standings, with Lémeret and Mondron just one point behind.
Vincent Radermecker and Eric van de Poele suffered a troubled season in the Neri Competition Volvo S60 in its second year of racing, with rule changes for 2011 favouring cars such as the Kia Pro_Cee’d with its 3.2 litre engine.
Kia’s presence in the series this year was smaller than before, with Kia Buy Way (Stéveny and de Radiguès) a single car entry and Chad Racing (Dockerill, Kane & Ferrier) running a limited two event programme this season.
The 2011 title is the first for the Pescarolo designed, Mountune-engined Kia Pro_Cee’d in the Belgian Touring Car Series.
