Andy Yan wins in Shanghai

Andy Yan from Chang;an Ford FRD Team won the sixth round of the China Touring Car Championship’s Super Production Class at the Shanghai Tianma Shan circuit.

Volkswagen’s Gao Hua Yang, who had started from third place, suffered from a misfire after the race start. His team-mate Han Han suffered from steering problem and slid off from the circuit several times, even after a a pit-stop to try and rectify on Lap 11, the problem remained unresolved and he retired two laps later.

Kia 778 Autosport also suffered from misfortune during this race. Jason Kang Jie Wei retired on Lap 7 with a mechanical problem, Lo Ka Chun’s Kia caught fire on Lap 8 and was out of the race. While Lo Ka Fai slide off in Lap 9, but was able to continue to finish the race.

Pole sitter Andy Yan led the race unchallenged and went on to win the race. Fan Gao Xian finished second, benefitting from the mechanical problems of Gao Hua Yang and Ford’s Rainey He. Wang Rue finished third, who also won the Super Production Turbo (SPT) class.

Jiang Tengyi finished fourth overall, and third place in the Super Production Normally Aspirated class, while Gao Hua Yang and Sun Chao finished second and third in SPT.

The seventh round of the CTCC will be held on October 16th at Guangdong International Circuit at Zhao Qing, Guangdong.
