Speedworks return for Brands Hatch GP

The other Toyota NGTC squad of Speedworks Motorsport will return at Brands Hatch this weekend after a two-race absence at Knockhill and Rockingham.

Speedworks are running a full Next Generation Touring Car specification Toyota Avensis, powered by the TOCA Swindon Engine, and are hoping for a turnaround in fortune after fitting the latest upgrades from chassis builders GPR Motorsport, which have seen a marked change in performance for Dynojet and Rob Austin Racing’s cars.

“Now that it features some of the latest modifications we have made a big step forward with the Avensis,” said Speedworks Team Principal Christian Dick.

“We have had some good testing time with the car, Tony (Hughes) is a lot more comfortable with its handling and hopefully this weekend we can be closer to the action and enjoy the racing.”

Speedworks’ appearance at Brands will be their fifth of the season, after missing the rounds at Thruxton, Croft, Knockhill & Rockingham whilst working on the issues with the car.
