Spengler: “We’re certainly not about to give up”
Bruno Spengler lost vital points in the title fight with Martin Tomczyk after retiring from the DTM race at Oschersleben.
“It was just bad luck – nothing you can do. Unfortunately, something suddenly went wrong with the front of the car, and then it wasn’t as drivable as at the start. We don’t yet know exactly what the problem was,” said Spenger.
Spengler was on his way to a second place, ahead of Tomczyk, but dropped back after a lengthy pitstop and later retired.
“I tried to keep going, because there still might have been a chance of securing some points, but I had to retire. It’s unfortunate, but it’s not the end of the world,” said Spengler.
The points gap to Tomczyk has grown to nine points with two races left and 20 points. But Spengler is far from giving up.
“There are still two races to go and we’re certainly not about to give up. There’s still plenty to fight for,” said Spengler.
Next up for Spengler and DTM is Valencia in two weeks, followed by the season finale at Hockenheim on October the 23rd.
