Matt Neal aiming for ‘best of the rest’ in first race
British Touring Car Championship leader is aiming to be best of the rest after the Chevrolets in race one tomorrow, after qualifying fourth on the grid, weighed down with 45kg penalty ballast at Snetterton.
Neal’s team-mate Gordon Shedden qualified second on the grid, with Alex MacDowall third on the grid in the interloping Silverline Chevrolet Cruze.
“I said if I could get in the top four I’d be chuffed to bits, so I suppose I’m pleased,” said Neal to TouringCarTimes.
“It could have easily been down out the top six. We’re at the right end, if you’re starting there then you’ve got half a chance. The Chevy race pace we’re anticipating is going to be a lot quicker than ours, so it’s whether we can be best of the rest. If we could finish where we start tomorrow and get some weight out, and get some weight on them and go from there, that’s the modus operandi.”
