Garth Tander re-signs with the Holden Racing Team
HRT driver Garth Tander has extended his deal with the team to the end of 2014, just a few days after celebrating the birth of his first child with wife Leanne.
A career Holden racer, Tander has driven for the Holden Racing Team since 2008, when he moved there just after winning his first V8 Supercars title with the sister HSV Dealer Team.
The signing comes during a mixed season for Tander, with just one race victory so far in 2011 and currently sits seventh in the championship, 382 points down on Championship leader Jamie Whincup.
“It’s been a big five days for the Tander family with two big milestones, first with the arrival of Scarlett on Friday and yesterday signing a contract extension with Toll HRT – so I’m really happy,” said Tander.
“A lot of people might question my decision after such a disappointing event in Darwin, but for me there was absolutely no question of staying with the Toll Holden Racing Team.”
“Martine and Ryan (Walkinshaw) have been fantastic to deal with. They have outlined their plans for the team and I have complete faith in them.”
“I am also certain of the people within the team who are working hard behind the scenes and I am confident that together we are capable of returning Toll HRT to a position where it is winning races on a more consistent basis, and winning championships.”
