Volvo win the 12 Hours of Spa
Volvo S60 Racing have won the 12 Hours of Spa after a close battle with three-times champion Frédéric Bouvy’s Renault Mégane.
At the end of the 12 hour endurance test, Vincent Radermecker had to hold off the team’s only adversary, the Delahaye Racing Mégane of Frédéric Bouvy, Christian Kelders and Geoffroy Horion. The next nearest competitor was the Kia Buy Way Pro_Cee’d which was six laps down.
After the final pit sequence, Radermecker’s lead was a mere eight seconds as he inherited the car from Nico Verdonck. The Volvo eventually crossed the line at 2:30am CET to take the win with a lead of 15 seconds from the Renault, winning the 12 Hours of Spa for the first time.
The T3 class win was taken by last year’s overall winners Steve Vanbellingen and Ruben Maes, along with Eric Qvick in their BMW M3, and fifth overall.
The T3S (SEAT Supercopa) class was won by Nicolas Leonard and Nicolas Lamy in the Allure Team SEAT.
35 cars were classified at the end of the race.
As the Renault of Bouvy, Kelders and Horion was leading at three and six hours into the race, the team score the same as Volvo and move into the championship lead ahead of Kia on 101 points, with Philippe Steveny and Didier De Radigues on 92 points.
