Tom Kristensen sets the pace at Lausitzring
Tom Kristensen quickly showed that little of his competitiveness in the DTM has been lost since he left the series by being fastest in the first free practice session at Lausitzring.
The Dane lapped the track in 1:19.412, a mere 0.026 seconds from Martin Tomczyk in the Team Phoenix Audi A4.
Audi occupied the top three places with Timo Scheider in third, 0.056 seconds behind Kristensen.
DTM newcomer Christian Vietoris was the best Mercedes driver in fourth, ahead of Filipe Albuquerque and David Coulthard.
Renger van der Zander claimed the seventh fastest time with Oliver Jarvis in eighth and Susie Stoddart in ninth. Miguel Molina was the final driver in to top ten, less than half a second from the fastest time of the session.
