Further turbo boost reduction for NGTC engines

The British Touring Car Championship organisers have once again lowered the turbo boost for the S2000 specification cars with NGTC engines. The cars will run with a 0.05 bar reduction at Croft this weekend.

TOCA lowered the boost by 0.1 bar ahead of the races at Thruxton. As the turbo powered Hondas were fastest during the previous round at Oulton Park, the organisers decided that a further reduction was needed.

“We’ve reduced the boost as part of an ongoing review of the equivalency and will continue to look at it,” said Alan Gow.

A statement from TOCA read:

“Following full analysis of data* and in accordance with Championship Regulation 1.11.2.a, the Administrator has mandated that with effect for and from Round 13 of the 2011 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship;

All registered cars running to Championship Regulation 5.2.23 are required to compete with a maximum boost pressure 0.05 bar lower than that permitted for each car at Rounds 10, 11 & 12 (Oulton Park).

The above revised boost limit is in addition to that advised in CB16, which remains suspended. The Administrator continues to reserve the right to promptly implement the previously notified revision, to individual cars (in accordance with CR 1.11.2.a), at any time during the course of an event if/when deemed required and given that the 24hr notice period provided-for in the regulations has previously been communicated.”
