Rockenfeller might miss Lausitz due to Le Mans crash

Audi driver Mike Rockenfeller might miss the DTM race at Lausitzring this weekend due to the high speed crash at Le Mans last weekend.
“Audi is going to give him the time that he needs to rest,” said an Audi representative.

Rockenfeller crashed in the eighth hour of the 2011 Le Mans 24 hour race at the fastest part of the track. The Audi driver collided with a GTE class Ferrari 458, sending Rockenfeller in to the barriers at 300 km/h, completely destroying the Audi R18 TDI.

Rockenfeller escaped the accident with virtually no injuries and is currently recovering at his home in Switzerland.

A decision whether Rockenfeller is going to take part in the DTM race this weekend will come at the earliest on Thursday.
