Second win of the season for Luigi Ferrara
Luigi Ferrara took his second win of the season at Misano. The CAAL Racing driver shared the podium with pole man Max Pigoli and series rookie Alberto Cerqui.
At the start Pigoli took the lead ahead of Ferrara, who managed to overtake Thomas Biagi for second. The BMW Italia driver actually slipped down to fifth after being passed by Christian Montanari.
The race became more and more interesting as lap six saw Ferrara overtake Pigoli for the lead, while Gabellini and Montanari made contact in the mayhem triggered by the close fight in the top positions.
The two top Mercedes drivers were very close all through the race, as behind them, Cerqui proved his grit by keeping team mate Biagi behind him to eventually claim the final podium spot.
Riccardo Romagnoli claimed fifth ahead of the RGA Sportmanship pair, with Montanari ending up ahead of his team-mate Kristian Ghedina. Francesco Sini finished in eighth ahead of Stefano Gabellini and Alex De Giacomi, rounding off the top ten.
Michela Cerruti, who was leading the Italian Superstars Series, failed to score any points. The Romeo Ferraris driver had engine problems which prevented her from performing at her best.
