RML Chevrolet Cruze voted best car of 2010
The British and World Touring Car Championship winning Chevrolet Cruze S2000 car was voted by TouringCarTimes readers as the best touring car in the world for 2010.
The Cruze took Jason Plato to his second British Touring Car title in nine years in its first season in the BTCC, and also gave Yvan Muller Chevrolet’s first World Touring Car Drivers’ Championship title as well as the manufacturers crown in its second WTCC season.
The RML built car defeated the DTM’s Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse as well as the STCC’s Polestar Racing Volvo C30 in the poll, achieving a dominating 68% of the vote, with the Volvo on 19% and Mercedes with 13%.
RML’s Sponsorship & Marketing Director Rupert Manwaring received the award on behalf of RML, whom had enjoyed success in every category in which they competed last year, including the Le Mans Series LMP2 title.
“Certainly 2010 was quite a special year for us. To win both the British Touring Car and the World Touring Car was a real treat,” said Manwaring.
“It’s really good that British Touring Car and World Touring Car is recognised above, say DTM, and the racing in the British Touring Cars is absolutely fantastic, and we’re absolutely delighted to win this prize, especially as it’s voted for by the public.”
