Jordan fastest again in Free Practice 2
Andrew Jordan was fastest again in the final free practice session, finishing just ahead of the new Ford Focus of Tom Chilton and the Jason Plato’s Chevrolet Cruze.
The session ran to the full 40 minutes with 21 cars taking part. Dave Pinkney’s Audi A4 missed the session, as did Gordon Shedden’s Honda Civic.
Shedden’s car is still being worked on by the Team Dynamics mechanics, with the team not giving up on repairing the car despite Steve Neal’s comments this morning indicating the car would not be able to race.
Frank Wrathall’s Dynojet Racing Toyota took to the track at the start of the session, but then ground to a halt at Paddock Hill bend on only its third lap. The car was recovered to the pit garage and rejoined late in the session, setting the 21st fastest time before again slowly returning to the pits. The Toyota was four seconds down on the benchmark set by the Team Eurotech Vauxhall of Andrew Jordan, on what’s effectively its first test session.
Several drivers were warned for exceeding the track limits, including Jason Plato. Newcomers Dave Newsham and Chris James received black flags for repeatedly offending. Both drivers were spoken to by the race officials and able to rejoin the session, with Newsham ending up 16th in his Geoff Steel Racing BMW 320si and James 19th in his Team ES Racing Lacetti.
The qualifying session for the first race is due to take place at 15:40 UK time and will be broadcast live on the internet by ITV.
