Pinkney set to race for Rob Austin Racing
Dave Pinkney will be back in the British Touring Car Championship this year at the wheel of one of Rob Austin Racing’s new NGTC-specification Audi A4s, reports today’s Motorsport News.
Rob Austin Racing are still waiting to take delivery of their new car, being built by GPR Motorsport that have developed the first Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) Toyota Avensis, but as reporting by TouringCarTimes last week, expect to be able to run the car for the first time at the season’s media day launch on March 24th.
Pinkney drove for his own team with an ex-Triple Eight Vauxhall Vectra last year, powered by the new TOCA NGTC engine. For this year, Pinkney will again have the opportunity to race with a turbo, but this time with an Audi TFSI engine which is being developed by Ric Wood Motorsport.
Pinkney also told Motorsport News the car will run in Audi’s official colours during the 2011 BTCC season. Rob Austin Racing were still in negotiations as of last week for a second driver.
