Jason Plato confirms Chevrolet drive for 2011
Jason Plato has confirmed to Motorsport News that he is going to continue in the British Touring Car Championship 2011 for RML Chevrolet with a new one-year deal.
The Chevrolet driver says he is aiming not only to defend his title, but also to become the first driver ever to hit 70 victories in the BTCC. Plato is currently equal with Andy Rouse on 60 victories.
“With RML behind me, I don’t see that there’s any reason why we shouldn’t be looking to dominate the championship and that will take me towards 70 wins,” said Plato to Motorsport News.
Plato is going to drive an updated Chevrolet Cruze in the championship this year, the same one as being used by Yvan Muller to clinch the WTCC title last year.
The 43-year-old racer from Oxford claimed his second BTCC title last year for Chevrolet, 31 points ahead of Honda’s Matt Neal.
