Mattias Ekström breaks left-hand wrist
Audi driver Mattias Ekström has broken his left-hand wrist while playing volleyball with his team mates. While the Swede is forced to cancel his participation in the famous ski race “Vasaloppet”, he expects to be fully recovered for the DTM premiere at Hockenheim on May the 1st.
“Mattias must wear a cast for about four weeks, afterwards he can start training again to build up the muscles. We all hope that he recovers well and Mattias can line-up on the grid at Hockenheim,” said Audi team physician Dr. Christian John.
Almost exactly one year ago former DTM Audi driver Tom Kristensen broke his left foot while playing tennis, something he recovered fully from.
“We wish Mattias all the best and a rapid recovery. I’m convinced that he will do everything possible to be absolutely ready to go for Hockenheim. We’ll give all the support he requires in the process,” said Audi Motorsport boss Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.
