WSR confirms continued BTCC program with BMWs
West Surrey Racing has confirmed a continued program in the British Touring Car Championship 2011 with up to three BMWs.
“We are really looking forward to running the BMW’s in the BTCC again this year, as they are a very good race car and with the updates being done for 2011 I know we should be in with a chance,” said team boss Dick Bennetts.
The team has not announced their drivers lineup yet but states that they are close to revealing two of the drivers shortly.
“We’re close on signing two drivers and will be announcing some new sponsors in the near future. The third seat is still up for grabs and we’re working hard on filling it,” said Bennetts.
The team has chosen to continue with the normally aspirated S2000 engines in 2011, rather than the new turbo charged NGTC engines. The team is hoping to take advantage of the reliability of their existing material.
“We’ve had the most reliable cars on the grid for a few years now and will be looking to get points in the bag early on whilst some of the others maybe finding their feet with the new regs,” said Bennetts.
