Will Davison confirmed at FPR

In one of the worst kept secrets of the off season, Will Davison will join the Ford Performance Racing team for 2011, taking over from Steven Richards in the #6 Trading Post backed Falcon FG.

After two years racing with the Holden Racing Team, Davison moves back to Ford joining the Prodrive run FPR squad alongside Mark Winterbottom and Paul Dumbrell.

“I’ve never been more fired up and motivated going into any championship than this year,” said Davison to BigPond Sport.

“After the disappointment of 2010, I’m keen to come back bigger and better than ever.

“Everything happens for a reason. And I still felt there were some races last year where I was driving better than ever. I certainly learnt some crucial lessons about certain situations and dealing with people too.

“I had the best year of my career and my worst year of my career in my two years at HRT. But I’ll always be grateful for my time there. Not too many drivers can say that have driven for the two factory teams in their career either.

“Now I’m back at Ford where it all began and I won my first race. I’ve been welcomed back with open arms and look forward to repaying them with success.”

Davison’s car will be backed by Trading Post this season, which moves across from Jason Bright’s car at Brad Jones Racing, who will confirm their new sponsors later.

The 28-year old driver from Melbourne finished 22nd in the 2010 championship, after being the runner up in the title to Jamie Whincup in 2009 with his first year with HRT.

Davison’s replacement at HRT has already been confirmed as 2010 champion James Courtney, following in Will’s footsteps, moving across from Jim Beam Racing.
