Richard Göransson enters WRC Sweden

Quadruple Swedish Touring Car Championship champion Richard Göransson is going to take part in the Swedish WRC event in 2011, driving a Group-N Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.
“This is a dream coming true. I have visited the Swedish rally for many years, dreaming of taking part in it and that day is here now,” said Göransson.

Göransson has done a couple of Swedish rally events this year and performed well. But the WestCoast Racing driver is humble ahead of the WRC event.

“This is the first time for me to take part in such a big rally event with drivers from all over the world. I have huge respect for all competitors and I am well aware of how difficult it is. My goal is primarily to finish,” said Göransson.

Göransson is going to drive for the team Eljas Motorsport in the rally and team boss Fredrik Eljas is looking forward to having Göransson in the team.

“Richard is a great talent and with proper preparations I think that we can raise a couple of eyebrows in the rallying world. He has got a humble ambition for the rally, but I think for sure that Richard has the possibility to take a top five finish in his class if the snow walls does not get in his way,” said Eljas.

The rally takes place in the surrounding areas of Karlstad, Sweden, on the 10th to 13th of february 2011.
