AmD Milltek progressing with NGTC engine

AmD Milltek Racing’s new engine programme is running to schedule, with the team working on its own Next Generation Touring Car (NGTC) specification 2.0 litre turbo engine for 2011.

The team which made their BTCC debut this year with the Volkswagen Golf, will follow suit with the majority of teams and run an NGTC-engine in their S2000 chassis in 2011.

Team Driver & Principal Shaun Hollamby told TouringCarTimes the engine’s been run on the dyno, and has produced 300bhp on it’s first run, though not as much torque as hoped for at this point.

The team are looking at two potential specifications of engine to run, currently working on an advanced design which will allow future development to reach the 2013 BTCC’s required power output, however a more basic configuration could be used initially.

Hollamby’s also hopeful that the costs will work out even lower than anticipated, with less stress on the engine, there is the potential for the unit to last a whole year without a rebuild.

With the S2000 engine being the weakest point of the car this season, the team are looking forward to having an extra 50bhp on the 2010 engine. Hollamby is targeting top ten results for the car next season now his development year in the championship is out of the way.

AmD Milltek Racing have also teamed up with YourRacingCar.com, a partnership which began at the penultimate round at Donington Park.

Fans can sign up to YourRacingCar.com and enjoy exclusive access and benefits from both YRC and AmD Milltek, as well as have their picture or logo featured on the Volkswagen Golf BTCC car next season.
