Cacá Bueno still hoping to race in the WTCC in 2011

Brazilian Stock Car star Cacá Bueno is still hopeful of driving in the WTCC next season, despite the planned entry with Honda collapsing.

Bueno took part in his first WTCC race at Brands Hatch this year with Chevrolet, which was cut short when he ruptured a fuel pipe in the first race.

The Brazilian driver is still hopeful of joining the WTCC grid next season with RML for a selected programme of about five race meetings.

Speaking to Grande Prêmio, Bueno said:
“There is nothing definite yet. But there is the intent of running in the World championship. To tell the truth, I would like the dates to not coincide. We even waited out for the calendar to see.”

“But I would love to do a world championship one day. It’s not only I that has this desire. Many here also have this idea. I think it would be interesting, especially to show the world that Brazil doesn’t have just Formula 1 drivers.”

Bueno has now re-signed with the Red Bull Racing stock car team for 2011, and is just six points behind championship leader Max Wilson, with the final round of the championship this weekend, meaning Bueno could potentially win his fourth Brazilian Stock Car title.

Bueno was originally slated to drive full time with the Equipo Petrobras team as a works Honda entry in 2011, but the programme was scuppered with engine supplier Mugen unable to develop an engine to the new 1.6 litre turbo regulations in time.
