World Challenge announces 2011 calendar
The US based World Challenge series has announced its 2011 series calendar of eight race weekends, with two events still to be confirmed.
The World Challenge series, which merged its GT and Touring class’s this season will again continue in this guise in 2011.
The touring category continued to grow as the season continued, with the championship adopting a new lower cost touring class specification which moved the series previous touring cars into a new category called GTS.
For 2011, the series will join four meetings of the IZOD Indycar Series as a support event, as well as headlining at Mosport in May, sharing the date with the Canadian Touring Car Championship as they have their season opening round.
“We are excited with how our 2011 calendar is coming together,” said Scott Bove of WC Vision.
“We’ve listened to what our fans, competitors and partners want. World Challenge presents Sports Car Wars at top courses and road racing events across the continent. Our skilled drivers get to test their mettle at the most challenging circuits and our fans get to see their favorites battle it out at these top venues in door-to-door, 50-minute sprints to the finish – a trademark of our series.”
