Steven Richards to leave Ford Performance Racing
Steven Richards has confirmed he has been dropped from the FPR team, receiving his notice shortly after the Gold Coast 600, and will be looking for a new ride in 2011.
Richards joined FPR in 2007, moving over from the Perkins Racing Holden squad, with Holden being the manufacturer he has been most associated with in his V8 Supercars career.
FPR have recently confirmed the naming rights sponsor for the No.6 FPR Falcon in 2011 will be Trading Post, part of communications giant Telstra, which has jumped ship from Brad Jones Racing.
It’s also strongly rumoured that Richards replacement will be Will Davison, who would leave the Holden Racing Team to take over Richards seat.
Richards still wants a full time ride next season, but admits the driver market is tough at the moment.
“There’s a fair bit of dust to settle before now and the end of the year,” said Richards.
“I’m not ready to step aside. Obviously I may not have that option, but finding another drive is high on the priority list right now.”
