2011 BTCC circuit lay-outs confirmed

The BTCC has confirmed the majority of the circuit lay-outs which will be used during 2011, switching the GP and Indy dates at Brands Hatch and running on a new longer lay-out at Snetterton.

The series official page, BTCC.net has confirmed that the opening round at Brands Hatch will be on the Indy circuit configuration, which was used for the final meeting of 2010. This has also been used by the DTM in recent years for its British round.

The penultimate round of 2011 will use the longer Brands Hatch Grand Prix lay-out, which has been regularly used to differentiate the two events at Brands on the BTCC calendar. The GP circuit has also been used for the World Touring Car Championship from 2006 until this season.

The longest meeting of the calendar will now be at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk. Circuit owner MSV is currently developing a new configuration called the ‘Snetterton 300’, which is so named for it’s planned three mile length.

It has also been confirmed that the circuit lay-outs at Donington Park, Rockingham and Oulton Park will be the same as this year, using the National, International Super Sports and Island configurations respectively.

The season finale at Silverstone is still TBC, as the BTCC may be able to take advantage of the new complex being built for Formula One next season and run on the South Circuit.
