Volkswagen slams turbo boost reduction

The Volkswagen Biogas.se slams the decision from the STCC organization to reduce the turbo boost ahead of the final Swedish Touring Car Championship race of the year.

“We are incredibly surprised and question the consequences the decision comes with,” said team boss Tommy Kristoffersson.

Team boss Kristoffersson strongly criticizes the STCC organisation after the decision.

“This late decision does not answer to the image we have of STCC as a strong and trustworthy organizer of a Swedish championship,” said Kristoffersson.

The Volkswagen team got the boost reduced from 2.2 bar to 2.1 bar, something the team claims is going to cost them around half a second per lap.

“The reduction of boost means lap times increased by four to five tenths at Mantorp Park,” said Kristoffersson.

The team has required a new examination and change of the decision.
