Shedden wins race one at home circuit

Gordon Shedden has won the first race at Knockhill ahead of Alex MacDowall and Steven Kane in an action packed race.

Gordon Shedden had a great start in his Honda Civic and drove past pole sitter Alex MacDowall at the start, but was hit in the first corner, almost losing control of the car, but controlled the skid and kept the lead.

In the background, John George crashed out causing a safety car deployment.

After the restart, Steven Kane made good progress, moving up to 5th on lap four passing Tom Onslow-Cole, and then fourth on lap eight at the expense of Jason Plato.

Onslow-Cole, dropped four places after Kane’s pass, including to his team mate Chilton, who managed to pass Plato for fifth following through behind Kane.

The top six then held station until a second safety car was called for debris on lap 15.

After the restart, as the field lapped the Triple Eight Vectra of Jeff Smith, chaos occured behind the top six, as Paul O’Neill made contact with Smith trying to lap him, leaving Smith in the gravel, whilst Collard and Onslow-Cole had contract right behind which put Collard out of the race.

On the penultimate lap, Steven Kane moved into the final podium spot, passing the Honda of Matt Neal, who then almost lost further ground to Chilton & Plato.

Shedden held on to take his fourth win of the season, ahead of MacDowall who takes his second podium and best result of the year.
