Di Resta takes a commanding victory at Brands

There was no stopping Paul Di Resta in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race at Brands Hatch. The Mercedes-driver won the race seven seconds ahead of championship leader Bruno Spengler.

While Di Resta was on his own in the lead, Spengler had to defend from Timo Scheider. The reigning championship was close to Spengler, but was never able to get past and had to settle for third.

Scheider instead came under pressure from the Spaniard Miguel Molina at the end of the race, the both finished the race just four tenths apart.

Previous race winner Gary Paffett came home fifth ahead of Oliver Jarvis and Martin Tomczyk. Alexandre Prémat finished eight and claimed the final point of the race.

Front runners Ralf Schumacher and Mattias Ekström both retired from the race. The duo collided on the first lap, dropping them down the list.

Ekström retired a few laps later after a collision with Susie Stoddart. Schumacher stayed in the race for 28 more laps before going off track and retiring with damage on his Mercedes C-Class.
