Scheider apologizes for missing the start

Timo Scheider had pole position for the DTM race at Zandvoort but missed the start and lost nine places.
“My apologies for the mistake at the start. I preloaded the car, the first take off was good but I stalled after a meter,” said Scheider.

The reigning champion then started a strong fight back to the top, managing to get up in to third position before the race end.
“I was just fighting like hell to get back. I had an incredibly good car to drive,” said Scheider.

This was Scheider’s first podium finish of the season and he is currently sixth in the championship, 21 points behind championship leader Bruno Spengler.
“This was the right step for the forthcoming races of the season. But we have to continue to work and must not make mistakes like this again,” said Scheider.

Although Scheider’s result from the race at Zandvoort is still provisional as one of the tyres on his Audi A4 lacked one of the series code bars in the after race control. The series organizers are currently investigating the matter.
