Rob Huff expecting tough race with BMW’s & TDI’s
Rob Huff is expecting a hard task to keep Tarquini and the BMW’s behind, but has a chance to move up in the standings with Muller and Priaulx suffering in qualifying.
“After finishing four times 2nd in qualifying this year, I think it was about time to take a pole, and I am glad I did it on a circuit that contains so many good memories for me,” said Rob Huff.
“Tomorrow it will be tough against Tarquini at the start and the BMWs in the second part of the
race, but I’ll do my utmost to keep the turbodiesels and the rear-wheel drive cars behind!”
Championship leader Yvan Muller was surprised to only qualify eighth.
“I am not very happy with my result and need to understand what happened.” said Muller.
“Track conditions were changing all the time, and for sure that didn’t help. We reacted changing
the set-up a number of times and I think we just went the wrong direction.”
Qualifying 11th wasn’t part of Andy Priaulx’s plan, as he tries to reduce the 51 point deficit to Muller, but Andy hopes to rescue a result in the race.
“Due to a mistake on my second set of tyres I failed to proceed to Q2. It’s obvious this isn’t what I had set myself as a goal for today. Now we need to focus on gaining as much ground as possible in race one, and to score some good points this weekend. I have managed to do this quite a few times this season.”
