Tarquini expects season to get tougher
Gabriele Tarquini, in second place in the championship after inheriting the first race victory in Zolder, fears the best circuits for the SEAT are behind them.
Tarquini won the first race, after initially finishing behind SR-Sport team mate Jordi Gené, and picked up sixth in race two, after a good fight with Augusto Farfus, though it culminated in a clash between the two at the first corner, and saw Farfus drop to eighth.
“I was a little bit faster than the Chevrolet in front of me, but no chance to overtake”, said Tarquini to TouringCarTimes
“I was very close to Yvan’s car, and there was a bit of hesitation at the last exit – and he (Farfus) tried to run outside around the first corner, but it’s a very difficult manoeuvre”.
Tarquini fears however that the power advantage that favoured the SEAT León TDI at circuits like Monza and Curitiba will be lost at the later rounds.
“BMW’s very fast, Chevrolet’s very good and now the very good tracks for SEAT are over, the first part of the championship was very good for us, now I think it will be much harder”.
