Jan Magnussen confirmed for NASCAR

Jan Magnussen is going to join his fellow Scandinavian Mattias Ekström and take part in the NASCAR race at Infineon Raceway, Sonoma.
“It feels great. I have always wanted to try NASCAR and I am very greatful to Phoenix Racing for giving me the chance,” said Magnussen.

The Dane is going to drive the number nine car for Phoenix Racing.

“We are thrilled to have a driver of his caliber to drive for us at Sonoma. Jan has tested NASCAR Sprint Cup cars before and his CV speaks for him self. He is going to give us a chance not only to qualify good, but to be in the top fight,” said Phoenix Racing team boss James Finch.

Magnussen is currently in France for the Le Mans 24 hour race, driving a Chevrolet Corvette for Corvette Racing alongisde Johnny O’Connell and Antonio Garcia.

The NASCAR race at Sonoma takes place next weekend on the 19/20th of june.
