Magnussen blames Olsson for race two incident
Jan Magnussen was spun around in the first corner in the second race in Gothenburg and had to retire.
“I am really irritated over what happened in the second race,” said Magnussen to dtc-net.dk.
Olsson blames Volkswagen driver Patrik Olsson for the incident, claiming that the Swede did not give him enough room.
“I got a good start and was alongside Olsson. The first that happens when we turn in to the first corner is that Olsson forces me over the curbs and I get rammed from behind by Schlüssen, which makes me spin around,” said Magnussen.
Magnussen says he is especially disappointed with Olsson as they both were in the “start meeting” ahead of the race.
“Olsson and I were at the stewards less than one hour in the race on how we have to perform the start. Here it is pointed out that we have to respect each others positions in the first corner, to make room so we can go side by side, or a penalty will be issued,” said Magnussen.
There was a penalty issued for the incident, but to Robert Schlünssen and not to Olsson.
“Schlünssen was given a penalty for spinning me around, but strangely enough, Olsson gets away without a penalty,” said Magnussen.
