Göransson wins eventful second race in Gothenburg

Richard Göransson won an eventful second Scandinavian race in Gothenburg. Göransson started fourth but was able to take the lead early on in the race after passing pole man Patrik Olsson.
“This is a special race to win and it is great that we could claim our first Gothenburg victory today,” said Göransson.

Patrik Olsson remained second ahead of his team mate Fredrik Ebklom, making it a Volkswagen 2-3.
“I am glad, it was nice to score solid points for Team Biogas.se,” said Olsson.

The race started with a lot of action. Jan Magnussen, who lost a wheel in the final corner of the final lap in the first race, was pushed around in the start of the second race.

Magnussen was unable to rejoin and had to watch the race from the pits.

Dick Sahlén scored another solid points finish in fourth and was able to keep race one winner Robert Dahlgren behind him.

Viktor Hallrup claimed sixth ahead of Johan Stureson and best DTC driver Robert Schlünssen.

Jan “Flash” Nilsson started 17th but climbed to ninth in the end. His team mate Thed Björk was able to make it to the grid after hard work from his team. Unfortunately for the BMW driver he had to retire after passing 13 cars in the race due to technical difficulties.

Jason Watt and Mattias Andersson had a big clash in the final corner of the track. Watt seemed to misjudge his braking and went straight in to the side of Andersson, both of them retired.

Reigning champion Tommy Rustad had another dark weekend and was penalized with a drive-through after contact with Andersson.

The safety car was brought out once due to a commercial board coming loose on the back straight. The rather large board hindered the cars from taking the normal racing line but could be removed after just two laps of safety car.

STCC resumes in five weeks at Falkenberg while DTC is back in two weeks at Jyllandsringen.
