Dahlgren wins ahead of Andersson in Gothenburg
Robert Dahlgren won the first race of the weekend in Gothenburg. Jan Magnussen closed in on the Volvo-driver in the end of the race but amazingly enough lost a tyre in the final corner of the final lap and dropped to seventh.
“This is the race that you really want to win in the season. A great day and great points for the championship,” said Dahlgren.
As Magnussen experienced from the astonishingly bad timed problems on the final lap, Mattias Andersson gained a place to second. Fredrik Ekblom finished third.
Dick Sahlén and Richard Göransson had a hard fight for the final part of the race, but Sahlén was just as in Karlskoga able to stay ahead.
Göransson was involved in an incident with Sahléns team mate Roger Eriksson earlier in the race. Eriksson launched an attack on Göransson which resulted in the SEAT of Eriksson getting airborne and the both lost a lot of places. Eriksson had to retire from the damage sustained in the incident while Göransson could continue.
Robert Schlünssen became best DTC driver in sixth position, ahead of the limping Magnussen.
Magnussen had a fight with reigning STCC champion Tommy Rustad earlier in the race. But Rustad made a mistake coming in to the second corner, getting his Volvo C30 in a huge slide. The Norwegian dropped down to 12th while Magnussen just barely was able to avoid the Volvo and continue.
