Daniel Lloyd pleased with maiden BTCC test
Daniel Lloyd made his first British Touring Car Championship appearance during the official test at Rockingham yesterday. The 18-year-old was seventh fastest overall.
“It’s been an absolutely fantastic experience,” said Lloyd.
Lloyd drove the TNT Post sponsored Vauxhall Vectra for Triple Eight and was just 0.375 seconds shy of Jason Plato, who was fastest of the day.
“To be within 0.3 seconds of the top of the times though is something I didn’t expect! It’d be unbelievable to be able to race in the BTCC,” said Lloyd.
Lloyd has previously driven Renault Clio Cup, notching up the 2009 winter title, but quickly got used to the S2000 Vauxhall Vectra.
“The Vectra is amazing, it’s very much like a bigger version of a Clio, with more speed and more grip, so I felt very comfortable,” said Lloyd.
It is still not set if Lloyd is going to drive any BTCC races for Triple eight, but the youngster was none the less pleased with the test day.
“Obviously I want to thank Ian Harrison (team principal) and everyone at Triple Eight for giving me such a great car to drive – the level of professionalism is incredible,” said Lloyd.
