Schlünssen wins action packed second race

Robert Schlünssen won the second race of the Scandinavian premiere at Jyllandsringen. The BMW-driver started from pole and won the race after a hard fight with Jens Reno Møller.
“It went according to plan, I wanted eight in the first race for pole in the second and after that go for the win in the second race,” said Schlünssen.

Møller fought hard with Schlünssen for the lead and managed to get past with a hard move. The SEAT-driver got penalized for the passing maneuver and had to take the penalty route which dropped him to third.

“We had the speed to win today. I tried to get past and put two wheels on the curb and made contact with Schlünssen. One can debate the stewards decision, but they have the final word,” said Schlünssen.

Volvo-driver Robert Dahlgren inherited second place, and the lead of the STCC-class.

“We had better settings for the car in this race and it was a comfortable race eventhough it was hard for a while,” said Dahlgren.

Swedish BMW-driver Johan Stureson claimed fourth position and was happy with his season start.

“I thought the premiere was going to be tougher for us, so this results feels really good,” said Stureson.

There was action all through the field during the race. Fredrik Ekblom was one of the main players in the thick of the action. The Volkswagen-driver was third at the start of the race but was noticeably slower than the drivers right behind him.

Dahlgren and Stureson were the first to get past and then Richard Göransson made his move on Ekblom. The WestCoast Racing driver made a hard pass on Ekblom and pushed him wide, something both Göransson and Ekblom received a penalty for. Göransson’s suspension was damaged in the incident and dropped further down the field.

Race one winner Tommy Rustad retired from the second race. The Norwegian fought for tenth place with Thed Björk when the BMW-driver made a move on the Volvo-driver. The both collided, Björk continued while Rustad had to retire after collecting Jan “Flash” Nilsson while sliding over the track.

Racing resumes for the Scandinavian Touring Car Cup at Gothenburg on the 4/5th of june. STCC resumes in two weeks at Knutstorp while DTC continues at Padborg Park on the 15/16th of may.
